Need car audio (speakers/amps) help...?

Alright, I have a 2001 pt cruiser. It currently has a pioneer radio, with ipod connection & such. Now, I would like to put a cheap but nice bumpin' bass system in my car. This car is only gonna last for about 3 or 4 years at the most, so I am not looking to burn a hole in my pocket.

I have the amp wires connected already, and would like to purchase this-

I was told by a friend that I should change out the front speakers as well since it could blow those out. I have been searching the site, and I am not good at these types of things. So I would like a pair of inexpensive pioneer speakers to fit in the front...

So I guess here is the question(s)- Would that be all I needed? Would kickers be necessary?

I am looking for my car to sound like those that roll down the street and it shakes the ground, you know?

  1. when it comes to car audio peak/max wattage means nothing at all, all you care about is the RMS (continuous) wattage

what amp are you using, you cant just put any subs to any amp, you could blow the subs, fry the amp, or both

info NEEDED to PROPERLY match an amp to subs

    the number of subs

the subs setup (DVC or SVC)

the subs RMS rated wattage (not peak/max)

the subs impedance (ohms), and/or the final impedance at the amp

    (or the exact model number)

and to "shake the ground" or set off any car alarms you will need at least 400watts RMS if you are serious

  2. Not with those subs you won't.

Some good but cheap subs, I'd get these:

Cheap, and a good name brand.
