anyway, what i would like to ask you is, well, oscar is basicly skin and bones at the moment. he has ascess to Whiskas Cat Biscuits 24/7, and he gets fed a handful of mince 1 a day. he weighs 4.2 kilograms, and literally when i pick him up he feels like a living skeleton. i am trying to get him to put on weight, and like have you ever tried to push a cat over on to its side? well usually they would resist at least a little bit, but oscar has no muscle at all. well at least thats from what i can tell. he has lots of skin so he is not sopposed to be that weight(i think). i dont know what to do. i should probably mention that when he was a kittenhe had his tail broken in two places(well that is what his breeder said.)i dont know how though. anyway, how can i get him to put on more wight?he also moults all the time. when i got to pat him,the hair comes out real easy. i dont brush him regularly though. should i do that?basicly overall care of him. he is my cat and leo is my mums. leo is in great condition, but i acnt figure oscar out. he eats real slowly. like i mean REAL slowly. he will take a mouthful away from the dish and he will eat that slowly thn he reapeats the process only t find the dog has eaten the rest of it. or leo. leo is a guts. anyway, i have begun to feed him meat away from the others. i need help with him please. thank you.

  1. He is sick, sounds like a dental problem (yes, cats can have bad teeth). Please get him to a Vet soon.

  2. try feeding him food for kittens it has extra fat and nuitrients in it but when he has gotton some weight on revert back to adult food as you don't want a fat cat either.

  3. i agree with the kitten food suggestion, switch to this instead of normal whiskas.  I think you are doing the right thing in feeding him away from the others, you may have to do this for a while to ensure he is getting all his food and not having it stolen - in our house cats are fed separately from the dog for this exact reason!

You could try regular brushing as most cats moult, I do however suggest that you take him to a vet for a checkup to ensure there is nothing medically wrong with him - hair and radical weight loss are symptoms of many things.

Good luck, hopefully all turns out well for you :)

  4. Has he been to a vet recently?  He might be sick.

Feeding him separately will help him to get his share but he might need help to get better.

Ask your mom if you can get him checked out.  If he is healthy (just under-weight) then the bill won't be too bad.

  5. sounds like worms sucking out his nutrition deworm the cat!!! before they kill him

  6. try getting him neutered that usually fattens them up! : >

  7. I had a cat with cancer a few year ago. During this time he lost quite a bit of weight. What I did was feed him good quality kitten food. He got both soft and dry food. The dry was available at all times. This gave him extra fat and vitamines that he was losing. You could try this. Also, take his food out of the reach of the dog. Ask your vet about the kitten food. It may be worth a shot.

  8. A trip to the vet would do him some good.  Could be malnutrition caused by ignorance or a tape worm or type of parasite, or cancer.  What you know is your kitty is sick and the vet will diagnose and treat.
