I'm buying a projector very soon, but just noticed the resolution difference between my current one and the new one. My old one's specs state "XGS 1024x768" resolution. The new one states "SVGA 800x600". By TODAYS definition of these terms -- Will the average person see any difference if the projector is used to show DVDs and powerpoint slideshows?

  1. Definitely go with the XGA projector.  It will also be more compatible with your computer display - it will look more realistic.  It is worth the extra money.

  2. Actually, neither are widescreen. I think the average person would see a difference, since 1024X768 resolution is about 25% bigger than 800X600 resolution. For PowerPoint slideshows, the higher resolution would be better, since the text would be better defined and clearer, the result of more pixels being to display more detail.

  3. 1024x768 is a wide screen resolution while 800x600 is a std resolution. The wide screen would be preferred. I don't think the average person would see a difference.
