My family and I just recently returned from a three day camping trip to Gettysburg. We are very intrigued by the paranormal and find it very fascinating, so we took advantage of the opportunity to go on a ghost hunting tour. We took at least a hundred photos on our trip and found many orbs, with each one being different from the rest. Some are large or small, some with colors, and most are white or gray in color. We zoomed in on every orb just to see if we can see a face, which is what some on the tour told us to do. Imagine our surprise when we zoomed in on the one featured below. I drew an arrow in hot pink to the image I would like you to focus on. I would love to get your opinion on this image in particular. You must zoom in to appreciate the likeliness that it is something "unusual".

The photo was of our two daughters and it was taken in front of a tree called The Lucky Tree. It is supposed to be a tree were Abraham Lincoln stopped to rest right before giving his famous Gettysburg Address.

We have been looking at this photo for 2 days now. We have examined it over and over again but we keep going back and forth with our conclusions. We believe it is one of two things... but I am not going to tell you because I want you unbiased opinion.

What do you think it is?

  1. The other orbs look interesting.  In order to make them slightly more credible, you need to help rule out any other possibilities first.  Always look to debunk them and eliminate the other possibilities first.  E.g could they be bugs.  Were there lots of bugs flying around.  Could they be moisture.  Was it a very cold night.  Could they be dust?????

Reflections, light soures etc all contribute to fake orbs.  Whenever I am on a ghost tour or doing an observation I always make lots of notes about the conditions, temperature etc.  If I see any bugs flying around etc, I make copius notes.  May not help prove to the skeptics that the pictures are valid, but at least it rules out any ohter possibilities

Having said that the orbs look very authentic to me.

  2. Hello, I have been a paranormal investigator for about 6 years now and unfortunately, the spots you are seeing in your photographs are nothing paranormal at all. They are merely the reflection from your flash on dust, moisture, or insects in the air. The only true orbs are usually solid masses, have their own flight path, and are visible to the naked eye.

    Hope this helps!

    Michelle

  3. The picture has been altered. I used some 'real' equipment to blow it up to 4800x3600 and massaged the contrast.

Clearly you can see the black outline of something superimposed on the tree forming a reverse L starting down the tree side of the face and running below.

Had the picture not been doctored it looked quite convincing. Next time you do that use good software to flatten the colors and reduce the resolution so I can't use software to prove the fake.

  4. I'm sorry to say, but that is not a orb. It's actually a tire! The other orbs are genuine though.

EDIT: I can clearly see the hub cap and the rubber with white letters surrounding it. With out doubt, case closed!

EDIT: Your welcome Candice! I do find that yellow orb to be very interesting. I've never photographed one in any other color then smoky white. Nice work!

  5. very cool

  6. I don't know. It could be dust.

  7. it looks like 2 orbs, 1 smaller than the other (and no im not talking about the 2 white circles placed over the girls' faces ppl!!) LOL

♡ I would love to visit Gettysburg. I've heard there is so much paranormal activity in that area ♡

  8. i love the Civil War and i would love to go to gettysburg because i would like to see the area they fought is you could post a link where you went in gettysburg so i could go there that would be very nice!

ok i think that it could be an orb i wish you had another picture of it because we can see if the orb moved or dispeared if it dispeared then it was an orb but if it moved dust

  9. If the area was dry, then it's dust from the kids walking around to pose next to the tree.

Here's video from Gettysburg that you may find interesting.
