  1. Have you ever tried looking at recipezaar.com this website has lots of great recipes and I'm sure you would find plenty.

  2. fruit that is in season

    vegetables

    hot dogs

    salads

    fish

  3. hot dogs

  4. Pasta and salads, if you buy vegetables which are in season, then it will be extremely cheap. Stay away from out of season fruits and vegetables otherwise you pay like anything because they are imported. Also if you want to include meat, the best is chicken because it is the cheapest and there are so many different summer dishes you can include it with.

  5. Pasta, real cheap

Tuna, lots of protein (eggs too)

  6. grow your own garden if in apartment  grow in big pots

  7. Home made tacos are always cheap and easy.

A packet of taco seasoning ($1.20), 1lb of ground beef or turkey ($4.00-6.00) shredded lettuce($2.00), can of sliced black olives ($1.30) Sour cream ($1.50), Shredded cheese ($2.50), and tortillas ($1.00-2.00).  You can add some more veggies or taco sauce but this meal is cheap either way. It also is a quick clean up and great for a family on the go.  You can make it into a taco salad, or sub chicken. There are also recipes to make it into a casserole or pizza.

  8. Tabouleh!  It's my favorite summer food - you can buy the cracked wheat in bulk at either groceries or health food stores for around $1.50/lb, and although tomatoes and cucumbers are traditionally used, you can throw in whatever veggies you desire (all of which will be uber-cheap if you buy from farmers markets)!  A little lemon juice, a little olive oil, some parsley, and voila, you've got a filling, nutritious, and refreshing summer dish!
