  1. check your local library they have lots of resources

  2. paint pumpkins and gourds,

find leaves and iron them between two sheets of wax paper or contact paper and hang in the window or use for a placemat.

  3. Hand print each child's hand and have a poem that relates to grandparents or hand prints.  Have the date and child's name and frame this.  They will love it.

And here are some ideas for September

    1.)  Apple prints (sponge paint)

    2.)  Playdough with scents

  4. this one is not for grnadparents day, but, if you want them to learen how to raise their hand, you could trace their hands on construction paper and glue it on a popsicle stick and let them decorate it and if they have a question you tell them to raise "their hand".

&& for grandpartents day, you could cut our hearts and have them draw their grandparents on it.

or you could cut out pictures of a boy and a girl and have them color it like their grandmas and grandpas.

    hope it helped =]

  5. Super easy! Handprint ties and aprons. Simply place handprints (after dipping small hands in paint) on to fabric and wallah you have a great gift for grandparents!!!

  6. Take pictures of the kids and make simple frames with Popsicles sticks or cardboard. Have a variety of fun things for the kids to paint and glue onto the frame.. put the pictures in them and a great gift for the grandparents. September being the beginning of a traditional school year any kind of self-awareness activities are fun self-portraits (for little kids give them an outline of a person and have them add the details) provide mirrors so they can look at the color of their eyes hair, etc. These portraits could be gifts also.

  7. Have parents bring in some clean empty baby food jars.

Remove labels if they have not already.

Paint top of lids or glue a lacy doily to top lid.

Fill with water, gitter and a pretty flower.

Glue lid securely in place let dry.

Tip over and jar is now upside down (Lid should be the base of the jar) you have a pretty snow globe to give as a gift.

  8. eating crayons? just kidding! I love the "raise their hands idea", and it could be used for grandparent's Day--just send the sticks home with a the date and name of the child on it and a poem saying how wonderful it would be if it were their real hand grandma/pa was holding or something like that.

Little ones love sand, sand pics are real easy. Just make a design on heavy paper or cardboard with white glue (Elmer's) and pour sand over it as you would glitter. (Glitter is a no-no for tiny tots--it gets in their eyes.)

Seasonal fruit/veggies on Popsicle sticks is always fun, and yummy. Make and eat.

    finger painting--what  wonderfully messy fun!

egg-carton caterpillars-- paint is the only thing that works really well on those, crayons are too difficult for such little ones to use on a soft surface.

sock hand puppets or stuff and call them dolls or worms or.... (Color with markers)

    construction paper crowns

    toilet-paper or paper-towel roll microphones, toot-toot horns.

    have fun

  9. There is a great site on the web.... I use it a lot for Play group!  Have fun!

  10. you can still color and paint  if they do good give them some animal crackers k
