Need creative ideas?

i have a project on the cold war and have to find documents relating to that time period and place them in something like a suitcase or chest or some kind.

any ideas as to what i can to put the documents in (not a suitcase or chest)?

  1. Go to some local flea markets and get an old leather briefcase or document holder, anything from the 1950s to the1980s.


  2. You can buy metal ammunition boxes at army surplus and/or sporting goods stores. That would make a good metaphor for the concept of "keep your powder dry" which means, sort of, "stay calm and be prepared". They also have a great post industrial look to them. They aren't very expensive either. Here's a link to some images in case you haven't seen them.

    They come in lots of sizes, just search military ammo boxes.

  3. Can you make something? Like a small hessian sack with the hammer and sickle on it?  

    Put the papers inside a Russian doll :-)

    Or a vodka bottle - or a crate/box which held vodka.

    Paper suitcases were very popular in Eastern Europe in those days, if you could find one of those and print out some old stickers (see below).
