Need debatable questions for high school?

Question

I just started teaching high school and I would like some warmup questions to start each class. I don't want riddles or "would you rather" questions, and I don't want it to deal with history (the subject I teach). I would like tough questions like the one I previously posted, "which is more important, doctors or teachers." That way there's no real right or wrong answer, but it's also an important question, not a silly one. Where can I find these kinds of questions? Do you have any to suggest? Thanks!!

Depends how controversial you want but how about:

"Should we test drugs on animals?"

i was in a debate class and some of the questions that we have discussed was:

1) Should euthanasia be justified? Do you think its wrong or right? What are the + and the -. If you saw your loved one suffering, would u euthanise them to relieve pain? What if they dont want to die, but they cant tell you b/c they are in a coma.

2) Should abortion be legal?

3) Cuba and AIDS vs. US and AIDS. Like which system is better and "right". Since in Cuba they isolate you from the society and let every1 know that you have aids. And it becomes like a health clinic/concentration camp while in US you have the right not to say about it, while you might not tell your partner and transfer AIDS to them.

How about "Do you believe in capital punishment?" The death penalty is a hot topic, and it might get kids thinking about something important.

yes because it keeps out illegal immigrants?

no because illegal immigrants will find other ways to come in [tunnel, etc]

What would you do if your friend was in trouble. Refferring to teen pregnency.

Thought provoking questions. Alot of kids like real thoughts that relate to thier lives and circumstances.
