My son is 7mo and has his 2 bottom teeth. I have tried all I can think of to brush his teeth and he still just pushes my hand away and clamps his mouth shut. I tried two different finger toothbrushes, a regular baby toothbrush, cherry baby toothpaste, cotton gauze pads and washcloths. I brush my teeth in front of him everyday and he loves watching but when its his turn he wants no part. I let him play with the toothbrush but... I need advice please.

  1. you are doing all you can, keep being a good role model, let him play with the toothbrush and try to get a routine.  In the morning brush with him, let him see you do it every morning and again at night.  Make it a habit so that it isn't a surprise for him.  he will get it. not to worry.

  2. I do the same with my daughter. I let her play with tooth brush. She'll suck on it and play with it. She loves it, she won't quite let me brush them but she's getting the idea. Just keep trying eventually he will get it.

  3. Girl well when you get advice let me know, because my 10 month old has 4 teeth and she acts the same way! I don't know what to do either, I don't want her to get cavities.

  4. Any kind of tooth paste isn't recommended until after 1yr, even the baby stuff. Keeping that in mind, if he will chew on something like a wash cloth that should be plenty for now. Just keep brushing in front of him and let him chew on a wash cloth or hand him a tooth brush to play with while you do it.

  5. Get him a toothbrush for himself so he can play with it while you try brushing his teeth. Keep the routine, eventually he'll get use to it and accept it.
