Mrs May was daughter of a Rothschild. Her body was found in Fiastra (?) and she was holidaying in a property in Camarino. Story was featured in Times and occurred about 50-60 years ago. Need copy of article or any other info.

  2. I don't know if this is the story you're interested with, but I found an article (published on the Roman daily "Il Messaggero" on June 13th 2006) concerning the disappearance of Jeannette (or Jannette) Bishop May (b. 1940), ex-wife of Sir Evelyn Robert de Rothschild and niece of Rolls-Royce jet engineer Sir Stanley Hooker..

Ms. Bishop May disappeared on November 29, 1980, together with her cook, Ms. Gabriella Guerin, while hiking on the mountains near Sarnano, a small town not far from Camerino (MC). Their decomposed bodies, together with their handbags, were found scattered around in a wood near the cemetery of the nearby town of Fiastra on January 27 1982, twelve days after Ms. May's bereaved husband, Mr. Stephen May, offered a reward of 250 million ITL for any tip leading to the retrieval of their remains.

The article explains how a forensic scientist managed to find DNA evidence that the remains did indeed belong to Ms. Guerin by comparing samples with the DNA of her surviving sister.

However, no evidence can be found about the other remains because Ms. May's bones had been cremated after they were found.
