Need diet plan for 1800 calories a day!?!?

OK, I just found out that I am 250lbs. I am 5'6 also. Of course I know I am overweight, the doctor said that I need to go on a diet. DUH!!! But diets dont seem to work well. I am not addicted to food or anything like that were I cant stop eating I just want to get a diet plan that will help me. He said that I have to say within 1800 calories a day and try not to eat alot of fatty foods. I walk 2 miles per day Mon - Friday and I have a Latin Workout Video that I use Saturday and Sunday mornings but that doesnt seem to be doing the job. I need a good diet plan. Can anyone help me??

  1. 1800 calories is alot! Just count them by reading the health stuff on the back of food as you open packages ...stop after 1800 a day, remember softdrinks count too. Softdrinks can add 100-200calories per drink a day!


  2. stick to whole grains, and lean proteins.  lots of fruits and veggies and lots of water.  i'm on a calorie-counting diet, and i'm only allowed between 1240-1690, so you should be ok.

    its free, it can give you recipes and meal plans if you want but it will also help you track your calories.  its great.

    also, try to eat smaller meals every few hours, instead of just 3 larger meals a day.  it keeps your metabolism up and you get hungry less often.  and dont skip breakfast!

  3. go to sparkpeople.com, they have great diet and fitness advice, and they have an online diary that helps you keep track of the caloric intake you have every day, which is very helpful! they also have meal plans if u prefer to do it that way..

    when you are on a calorie plan, the best way is to keep track of them, that should help you out a lot to plan your meals and will teach you how much and what to eat.

  4. You don't need to run, you don't need to count calories, you really have to do what the doctor says. On my program you have a daily menu. Three balanced meals a day plus snacks and water. My clients only do light cardio, like walking, for 30min 3 or 4 times per week and lose 2 to 3 lbs per week. You will lose faster because you have more to lose.You may purchase a book on high protein, low carb diets, a diabetic diet book or the book titled " You on a Diet " and keep a food diary.   6. you actually need 1200 calories a day if you are a girl and 1800 calories if you are a guy

    You can go to a nutritionist they will give you a good diet plan and drink just water everyday you need 2500 oz of water a day since you weigh 250 lbs.  

  7. i think what your doing seems like it would work, but i think maybe if you started running instead of walking ( thats how i lost the weight) and i at 1600 calories a day, but maybe thats not healthy for you, maybe you should see a nutritionist for some helpful info. Good luck!!


  8. im sure that someone will give you a more detailed answer but what helped me is by drinking water all day and chewing gum to put me off eating (snacks) Good luck :D
