Need eatable butterfly toppings for wedding cupcakes?

I am having a purple and chocolate themed wedding and want to having cupcakes instead of the traditional cake, I have seen lots of pictures of pretty butterflies on cupcakes that look like hard sugar but I have no idea where to find them. Please help!

  2. You can make them yourself, or you can buy them at cake decorating/wedding supply stores (I can't get more specific as I don't know where you live, whether you shop online at all, etc).

    If you're doing it yourself, you can print up a sheet of (or draw by hand) pairs of butterfly wings, as intricate or simple as you want. Tape that to your counter, and parchment paper taped over top. Then pipe over the tracings onto the parchment, with royal icing. Let them harden (and make plenty of extra in case of breakage), for several days. You can either make the bodies on parchment, and stick the wings in and let harden, and then place on your cupcakes. Or you can make your strip of icing as the body right onto the cupcake, and stick the wings into that.
