Need fabric measurement help!

I'm ordering a piece of fabric that has a design on it that has to be turned a certain way to be upright. See here (if the link works):

The description says the width is 45". To me, width is across and length is down. Will someone please look at the picture and tell me if the fabric width is left to right or top to bottom on this particular image. Thanks in advance!

  1. Yes, the width from selvage to selvage will be 45".  You may need to ask for the pattern repeat length if this will affect what you want to do with the fabric.


  2. You're right, width is across (45") and length is down.

    I looked at the picture the fabric is pictured from left to right as in most fabrics.  When laying out the pattern, allow for a yard more when you want to have the pieces go in the same direction and if you want to match the designs at the seams.
