Need feedback on my meal plan for building muscle/staying lean?

I'm 28, 6'2" tall and in the past 5 - 6 months, I've gone from 190 lbs to 174 lbs. Now that most of the fat is gone from my face and stomach (haha), I'm trying to build muscle. I found the following meal plans online and I've started to follow them:

http://www.muscleandfitness.com/nutrition/49

Questions:

- When it mentions 2 - 3 cups of rice, do you think it's uncooked or cooked rice? 2 cups of uncooked rice is a lot of food! I can't eat all that!

- Is there anything that I could eat in the morning instead of the 10 eggs? First, they don't taste good. Second, that's a lot of FREAKING eggs!

- How long should I be working out everyday to ensure that I am building muscle and not gaining unnecessary weight? Right now, I do about 1 hour of cardio and about 45 mins of weight-lifting per day. Enough?

Does anyone have any other meal plans for building muscle and staying lean?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. ok i read most of both websites, it gives some good stuff but i would recommend this, ive came up with a very good muscle/lean plan, you will be healthy as a horse, and stout as a muel, ok lets do this (note: you will never need to take multivitimans or vitiman pills with this meal plan EVER)

Breakfast: 6oz of calfs liver cook it anyway your like

Drink whole milk (Get the Nurture or Organic)

eat your wholegrains ( not sugarfied cereol) (avoid flax seed

                   and soy)

    Lunch: Beef

               Broccoli

               Cauliflower

               Potatoes

    Supper: Alaskan Salmon

                 Black Beans

                 Tomatoes

Now i bet your wondering "well how much am i supposed to eat" well since your trying to keep your muslces and stay lean, its all about your body, naturally your body will tell you if your lifting weights and stuff you will need to eat ALOT, so just eat until you feel full, if you start noticing that your Gaining to much fat (which you wont at all if your weight lifting cause you should be burning all those calories) but if you do start to get fat then decrease on the carbs, just a little, cause that means your getting plenty of energy you need. And dont drink pop or anything thats REALLY high in sugur or anything that contains " High Fructose cornsyrup" as that stuff is really bad for you. Honey is fine, and cornsyrup is fine to. If you feel the need to add some more wholegrains to your diet, get wholegrain bread from a bakery, even the bakery at a local superstore, just be mindful not to get the bread with soy and high fructose cornsyrup, and avoid Bleached Flour.

And ALWAYS stay hydrated, not gatorade, drink water and get a good amount of salt.

Now that you have your breakfast, lunch and supper, lets go over what you should eat between meals,

Between Breakfast, Lunch, Supper and after supper if your hungery

You can either eat these as a fruit salad or individual throughout the day,

Ok eat: Watermelon, Red Grapes (not white grapes) and honey dew.

Eat as much as you can of the fruit. If you feel like your wanting some citrus fruit then throw in some limes and oranges (avoid grapefruit)

Now the pre and post workout foods.

1 hour and 30 mins before you workout Eat 6 eggs and a full bowl of cooked rice

(i like japanese white rice) and now for after you workout i would get some Whey protein mix from a superstore or gnc.

So immediatly after you workout take the recommending use of the Whey protien.

Ok now heres a good thing to remember, Eat as much Fruits and Vegies as you can cause those foods gets digested quickly. But in general you will be eating alot, Just fill up your stomach and your good to go.

If you start to get tired of the meal plan that i have stated there are multple plans that you can do to change things up.

Give me an email if you want to know more about the meal plans, oh yeah the 45 mins of weight lifting and 1 hour cardio sounds good, it just all depends on the person and what you can handle that wont over exert yourself, say for instance my grandpa has a plantation farm and garden(tobacco, corn, peppers etc...), he will work you to death at 70 years old he can out work anyone i know, but most of them old farmers are like that. So do you know what im getting at? If you feel like it increase your work just dont over do it all at once.
