Need for speed wont install

Question

when i try to install NFS most wanted it says i need directx 9c or higher, i tried reinstalling my directx but it still says it. when i click on technical support on the auto run i notice it says i have server 2003 as the operating system, but im running xp 64 bit how do i fix thatps i do sometimes run server 2003 in microsoft virtual pc but it never caused any problems before (im not running it when i tried to install)
