  1. Go try some boots on!!! Boots are in my opinion the # 1 item you should worry about when buying your set-up. If not you will pay on the mountain. Too tight your feet are going to hurt all day. To loose and you lose responsiveness. Also they make some boots softer and some stiffer. It all about how they feel to you not someone else. You should also at the same time try different bindings with the boots. To make sure you have a good snug fit.

Make sure you get what feels good to you. Don't get caught up in the brand name or how CUTE they look.

  2. whats up jake? Your question is very vague but i still think i can help. First, keep in mind that most every boot or binding, regardless of brand or price, is perfect for some rider out there. Brand discrimination is ignorant.  Second, get your boots first.  Snowboard boots, just like snowboards, each have a purpose. Some are geared for beginners, some for experts. Some work great in the park and other kill it in the powder. Define your riding style and go from there. After that you should get your feet expertly measured and fitted into many different boots at a credible shop.  A great pair of boots are crucial.  As for bindings, they all have purposes as well. Binding companies also have defining characteristics that separate each other from the others, so you might want to consider that. For example, Burton bindings are widely known for their extremely comfortable straps and Union bindings are gaining a reputation for being super strong and durable. Figure out what is important to you in a boot or binding and go from there. Sierrasnowboard.com is a great site to ask experts questions about specific products. Plus all of there merchandise is 50% off and they do free shipping in the U.S. I am sorry i didnt give you an exact answer, but hopefully you will use this info to get what is right for you that way you can progress much quicker. Good luck buddy

  3. if you are not afraid of parting with 600 bucks, get the ride alpha bindings and the 32 ultralite boots. if you dont like the ride alpha bindings, get k2 auto ever bindings. these are the best on the market.

    oh. and DONT get burton.

  4. Ride bindings are good, but Burton bindings aren't bad either as long as you don't get Freestyle's or get like C60's or C02's when you can barely ride intermediate terrain..  What kind of riding are you looking to do?  How much are you willing to spend?  What's your skill level?

I've heard that the either the Auto's or Cinches are heavy, and I heard the Cinches had some quality issues.

Stay away from Flow's though.  Good idea, bad execution.

I never really got why people wanted such exotic strapping systems.  The two strap system works fine for me and it doesn't take that long.

    Ride Ex

    Burton Cartel, or Missions.

For boots, there is no recommendation.  It's about how they feel.  Different companies make their boots differently, and therefore have different fits and feels.  Go into the shop and try each pair on and find the best fitting/feeling boot.

Keep in mind that you'll most likely have overhang if your deck isn't wide.
