Need good opinions on car speaker stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

ok i just got a car and im thinking about putting a system and i just dont know what to get though. i thought about getting some 12s in the trunk with and adding some midrange and tweeters but it seems really expensive and i talked to my friends mom who use to install sound systems and she told me i should get these things called 3 way6x9s. she told me that they are loud and your music will sound good and they are not super expensive.but honestly i want something that kicks and sounds loud and clear and i dont know how these things perform or what they do. i mean are the bass speakers in these things equal to 10s or 12s? or even 8s? so could any of you who know about sytems give me a heads up on these things or atleast recommend something? it cant be above like 1200 dollars.

What kind of car?

What kind of music?

Quality sound or rumble the street bass?

3way 6x9"s will give you good highs and mids in the rear.

5-1/4" in the front will let hear the vocals.

Maybe a good multi-channel amp to power them all.

All for under $1000.

Back in the day I had a really good system.  I find that you get better sound if you separate the highs, mids, and lows.  I had 2 15” kicker subs powered by a Fosgate punch 200.  I then had my midrange speakers in the doors.  I had little satellite tweeters to provide the highs.  I controlled the hertz output with a crossover.  I found that you get less distortion this way.  If you are not looking to blow your eyes out of their sockets you should be able to get something under $1200.00.
