Need hair advice. I am looking for a certain hair style.?

Looking to try to make hair look like oli skyes/ or any screamo singer with said type of hair.

is a picture of said hair im sure threes more. Im growing my hair now and hopeing that i can do this. My mom :D said that i should just let it grow and straighten it. I was just wondering if certain people can agree with this or is there another way.

dude why would you want to straighten your hair!! i have straight hair and it sucks...all i do is try and make it look wavy and messy
