My husband and I have two weeks to move out and so far we have not found anything. We have been denied because our credit is bad. We don't have very much money and we need to find somewhere quick. We have two small children. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. This cant be a surprise to you, you should have been planning for this.

Look to family or friends, you may have to split up the family.

Don't rely on government agencies, I don't want to have to pay to support you.

  2. In addition to the great answers from Ginger R, you can also consider asking a friend or family memeber to be a co-signer on your rental agreement.  Some landlords are willing to take a risk to rent to someone with bad credit.  You will need to find someone with good credit to co-sign on the rental agreement, so in case you're unable to pay the rent, the co-signer will be financially responsible to pay the rent for that particular month.

  3. Why you have to move is an important part of your question.

Maybe the husband should stop playing video games and step up and take care of his family.

  4. Need Help?

Privately owned subsidized housing - HUD helps apartment owners offer reduced rents to low-income tenants.

    .

Public Housing - affordable apartments for low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) – find your own place and use the voucher to pay for all or part of the rent.

    Need Advice?

Contact a housing counseling agency or call toll-free (800) 569-4287.

I'm more then a little pissed that you have 2 children that you have put in this situation.

Once you get settled, get your credit straightened out so this doesn't happen again

  5. Go to www.craigslist.com and click on your area.  If you can not find a place to rent from there, contact a local Realtor in your area that deals in rentals.  They will help you find a place to rent.  To find out if they deal in rentals just call them.

Explain your delema and ask if they know landlords who will work with you and accept weekly payments until your deposit is made.

  6. There are places in many locations called extended stay motels, check them out

  7. There are weekly hotels you can stay in, families like yorus do it all of the time.   Find one of those to stay in until you find a landlord who will over look your credit.

If you do not want to pay anything most cities have shelters you can stay in.
