Need help 0x0000007b ?

here's my problem i just put vista on my laptop and it went very slow with it. so i want to put windows xp back on it put when i start the setup its loading all the drivers and then it says windows is starting setup it goes to blue screen off death and says

>A problem has been detected and windows has shutdown.

Check for Viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed HDs or HD Controllers. Run chkdsk/F to check for HD corruption and then restart

so i went to cmd did the chkdsk /f and restart it and did the chkdsk in startup and it allways gives me the same erorr

i took the cmos out and power plug and battery and let it out for 30 sec and put it all back in and it still gave me the same problem.

btw my laptop is a dell inspiron 640m t2400 1.83ghz 2gb ram and

hitachi 80gb hdd

  1. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info


  2. Never done this myself but there are sites on the web that give guidance.

    try restarting in safe mode, revert to an eariler restart point, then tyr microsoft&#039;s advice in link provided.

    If that fails, use the safe restart to get to an earlier point, copy off your data and do a clean install of XP.
