Does anyone know why my air conditioner doesn’t work? I have a 2001 dodge intrepid. The air will come out of the vents but it isn’t cold. Does it have anything to do with my fluids in the car?

  1. I'm definitely not an expert on the matter, but some things that come to mind are possibly a bad clutch on the AC compressor.. If it doesn't sound like anything engages, or you don't see a higher draw on the motor while idling, this could be the problem.

I'd also check the fuse panel, make sure there isn't anything blown.

If you do note that extra drag, or it does seem like something engages when you turn the AC on, it could be old freon.

I'm sure there are other explanations, but either way, i'd bring it in to a service shop and have them diagnose it to be sure, because i'm fairly certain, if it's not a simple fuse, it's going to be something they'll have to repair anyways.

  2. it is low on r-134. have someone put a guage on it.

  3. true go to walmart and you can get a recharge kit its super easy to do.

  4. The cooling agent (fluid) may be exhausted.  Take it in and have it recharged and it should work great.

  5. yes it can . You may have a leak in the system, or the fluid level may be low . Take your car to a garage and have them test it . This may involve a dye test . It could be as simple as a oring . You can also go to your local parts store or walmart and get some ac gas put it in yourself it it solves the problem permanently great for you . If it only solves the issue temporally then you most certainly have a leak in either a line or oring

  6. it most likely leaked our the r134  freon  get it charged up
