Hi guys,

I am working towards forming my own security company. I myself have a SIA Security License and have registered my company with the companies house. However i'm not sure if i need any special license as a security provider. Also what other things do i need to do towards forming my company. Any advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thankyou very much.

  1. Are you based in the UK?  If so, contact your local Business Link for free help and advice on setting up your company.  They have information on any other licences you might need.

You will need insurance.  As a limited company you need Employer's Liability insurance, even for yourself.  Directors are employees of the company, as well as owners.  Public Liability insurance will be a key one, too, and you may want to think about professional indemnity insurance.

Speak to someone like AXA.  We've used them for some time.  Their rates are not bad and they go through everything to make sure you have appropriate cover.

    Good luck!

  2. Use this basic checklist to make sure all the important steps are taken before you launch your new venture. This business checklist will make sure that you cross all your t's and dot all your i's before your business launch.
