Need help!!! Horse boarding near me!?

Okay I am totally fed up with the barn owner and it'd time to move on...not only is she RUDE to her clients, but she complains wayy too much and yells/swears her head off when something doesn't go her way. I feel that it would be best for my horse, Sonny, and myself to move.

I am looking for a stables possibly no more than 30 minutes away from 12065 that offers PASTURE BOARD....no stall board or bringing the horses in at night. My horse is a weaver so he can't be in a stall.

Thanks a ton in advance!

  1. The first thing you should do is open up your phone book at start looking under "stables" in your area, give them a call and ask them if they have paddocks (im sure a weaver could be in a paddock) if you have no such luck with the phone book, go to your barn's bulletin board (if you have one) normally other arenas will be on the bulletin boards.

another thing you could do is go to your local feed store/tack shop and not only check out THEIR bulletin board, but also ASK the people behind the counter about stables near you. explain your situation to them, they'll understand.

    Good luck!

  2. I'm sorry, I do not live in your area, but are formal stables a must?  Have you posted notices at the local tack stores or feed stores looking for a private residence that would offer something?

People are getting more and more knowledgeable about how good it is for a horse to stay out as much as possible with shelter they can chose to use.  This shouldn't be as hard to find as it used to be.

    Good luck!

  3. Aren't you aware of other locations in your area?

Have you checked at your feed store or tack shop....or the local horse and pony publication?  What about other horse people in the area??

    ******EDIT******

I don't mean to sound rude but....I'm sure that a "pasture only" location would not have a web-site nor does every business have a web site.  I think your going to have to put some sweat equity into finding a new place...drive around, GO to the feed and tack stores....GO and look around, GO to other stables and meet people and perhaps through face to face contact people will be able to assist you or tell you of a place.  It is kinda like networking and not everything is accomplishable over the internet!!

    Good Luck to you!!

  4. That isn't a highway number, it's a zip code for Saratoga, New York.

You  might have to look further out to find what you want and also, look in the phonebook too as I know some really good barns that don't have a website. They want people to call and come out and actually visit their place in person before bringing their horses. =) Good luck you =)

  5. Here is a link to Clifton Park, NY area

Contact each stable you are interested in and tell them you are looking for a pasture board because of your horses weaving. That you need only a lean-to for his shelter.

Many areas provide pasture board or will accommodate you specific needs.

    Just ask!

Pasture board is becoming more popular.  It's preferred!

  6. well do you show? a show you can go around asking trainers and owners if they have pasture board and things like that. hope this helped!

  7. It might help if you told us what state and town you're looking in.  Unfortunately a HWY number doesn't tell a lot of us who don't live in your area much.  We need something to go on to be able to search it for you if you can't.
