Question:

Need help about the Ky Derby?

A group of us are wanting to plan a trip to the derby but we don't have a clue about good places to stay if need to buy tickets now or can we get tickets there. the trip is not so much to gamble on the horses more or less to go up there and expericence the atmosphere and have a good time.. if anyone has any good adivce love to hear it

  1. You'll pretty much need to go through a travel agency to get Derby tickets, IF there are any left, which is quite doubtful. Usually AAA has a package deal hotel/tickets. You cannot get seats at the track, but you can go general admission to sit in the infield, which is fun, but you won't see a single horse all day. It's pretty much Mardi Gras in Louisville.

    As for places to stay... I'd suggest Lexington. It's about an hour drive away (or a bit longer) but hotel prices will be much much cheaper. I'd suggest the Griffin Gate Marriott on Newtown Pike.

    and check with accor hotels for rooms..

    You will need to fill out an application if you want reserved seating. General admission is only available the day of the race.
