I’m a Brazilian married with a Canadian. We presently live in Canada with our 2 kids (3 & 5 yrs). My husband works in the telecom. He is actually improving his Portuguese speaking while he is looking for a job transfer with his actual employer (Nortel), which is not easy to obtain. Besides that, he’s also looking for other companies that hire people for international jobs.

Anyone can help us to find good contacts?

The other option is to sale everything and move to Brazil. Sao Paulo will be our destination in order to get more opportunities finding a job in telecomm. or any other technical job since my husband has an electronic tech. diploma and 20 years of experience in this area. This last option is not an easy one. What amount of money should we consider? We have in mind to arrive in Brazil with enough money in order to buy an apartment and have savings in bank to survive 1 year, considering that we might not find a job during the first year. Thanks for helping us!

  3. Sao Paulo is the best place to look for a job. On the other hand rents, parking, food, everyhting is more expensive there. The cost of a place to live will depend a lot on the area you choose. Check homehunters website, will be useful. Maybe you should consider coming here to check things around before moving definetely.

  4. I lived in Sao Paulo for 14 years and my parents are still living in Sao Paulo (Santo André). I would say that the best areas for you to live in Sao Paulo is the ABC (towns in the outskirts of Sao Paulo: Santo André, Sao Caetano do Sul, and Sao Bernardo do Campo). My parents bought a house in Santo André last year for $100,000 dollars. General Motors is located there and there a lot of foreign people. Those areas are safe, and clean. Stay away from places like Zona Leste (the East side) also named "Periferias". Another good area is the Zona Sul (South side) with classy neighborhoods such as Jardins, and Morumbi. I would definitely advice you go there for a couple of months before you decide to sell everything. My parents moved from Chile to Brazil in the late 70's and it was a difficult adaptation, it might be different for you guys, but it wouldn't hurt to check out the country before taking a final decision. Good luck!
