ok, so i'm planning on building a good workbench for my garage that will go along the wall under the peg board. I want it to a good quality, but not too expensive. I don't have any plans, so if you could help me out here, then I would apprciate it...

what type of lumber should i use and why?

how much should it cost?

what tools are necessary for this?

and the obvious...how do i build it.

  1. There is a kit you can buy that helps you build a bench easily and strong. You can get then or order it at most home centers. http://www.strongtie.com/products/DIY/KW...

  2. These sites have plans and supply lists.

  3. It is up to your imagination and budget, I would use standard pine... 4x4s for the legs, 2x4s for the rest of the frame (use lag bolts to hold it all together) and 3/4 plywood for the top (1-1/2" screws). Just be sure to countersink the screws holding the top on so you do not scratch any projects. You can put carpet or plexi-glass or something else on the top if you choose. Good Luck and have fun building it.
