I'm about to buy a desktop pc, but I want some suggestions about some brands.

My specifications are quad core / core 2 duo ( please mention if quad is better) 4 to 6 gb of ram , 64 bit color

I dont want to buy an assembled pc as I already have one and have had a lot of trouble with it ! What do u think about HP? I mention HP as it gives the quad core processors and all the processors given above. Please mention other brands which have quality pcs' with quad cores(if you recommend quad core processors rather than core 2 duo's) Also mention which graphic card do you recommend the most. I think the ATI 4870 is th e best as cost is less and performance is high. What do u think?

My budget is around 1300 $

  1. Carl, unless you have built a desktop before I would consider a computer kit.  The case, power supply, main board, processor, chip set, video card, sound card (integrated or onboard) have all been preselected and come together.  All devices need to be carefully matched for ompatability and performance. As far as processors, I like the quad core duo processors.  It give you faster processing power.  You RAM can always be upgrades to 4 GB as well.

  2. Quade core isnt faster then core 2 due proc.....im sure ther will be ppl that will argue with me about this but you asked what i thought...the core 2 due pro are better because they are 2 independent processors where as the quade...altho its 4...all the proccessing power is funneld through a single proc...so its power output is limited to the output of one proc not 4.....

now that thats out of the way...i got a lenovo core 2 due 2.4 ghz 500g hdd 2 gig ram and a 254mb vid card.....with this package i got a 22 inch screen...a keyboard and a mouse....and a free printer....umm that was 1400 from dicksmith...soooo ill let you figure out weathr its a bargan...all i would change with my comp is the vid card....and personaly i wud get another 500g hdd......and with your budget you can afford to do those things....hope i give u a lil bit of perspective of how far your money will go!!
