  1. wow, if I were one of the CSRs who was trying to help you I'd be less likely to be enthuseastic if you talked to me like this.

Perhaps the biggest problem is your attitude? Didn't you know that if you treat people with respect that they'll do a lot more for you?

What's the problem at hand? Is it that the signal goes in and out? Do the receivers not work? DirecTV has a tight network of lawyers and unless you live where the legislation says DirecTV can't enforce the contract yet then you're stuck. The best possible action at this point is to move forward or to cancel and pay the fees.

First, to adress what one other answerer said - DirecTV  has your service under a legally binding contract. That means that any fees or charges are, in fact, valid. If you dispute any charges with your bank they may be reversed, but they WILL end up on your credit report if not paid. Whereas a bank will take your word that a charge isn't authorized, the creditors WILL ask DirecTV why they're reporting your account as delinquent and they WILL find out that the account was under contract, cancelled, and not paid for. It's a bad idea altogether and should be avoided.

Next, address the real issue: getting your problems resolved. Call customer support (1 800 531 5000) and tell them what's going on. If you've done this before, there will be record of the call. If you were rude to previous CSRs (yelling, cursing, etc.) then it's likely the current one will know about it, so be on your best behavior if you want anything done. Explain the problem, answer any questions (a lot of "obvious" issues have multiple causes). Since you are still under the New Customer status any equipment replacements and service calls are done at no cost to you, so take advantage of them to get your issues resolved. In addition, any replacement or work done has a 30 day warranty in which you will not be charged for the replacement.

Keep in mind, however, that any time you add a leased receiver to the account (tip: if you pay nothing or $19.95 for the receiver it's likely leased - there is only one exception to this rule) then it will activate another service commitment starting from the day it's activated. There is no way to change it in the billing system.

My advice to you, in a nutshell is this: get your head out of your rear, get off your high horse, and work with them. Or pay them what you owe (including the early cancellation fee).

  2. Why don't you address the real problem which is "it sucks".  Is it a signal issue, programming issue or what.  They can't "suck" as bad as you say considering they have Millions of subscribers with me being one of them.  I love it so much you'd have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.  I'd look to address that first as it's doubtful you'll be able to get out of your contract,

    weeder

  3. If you signed the contract you can't do anything but pay!!

The good news is that it does get better. Trust me. I had the most horrbile Direct Tv experience. I got stood up 3 times and when I finally got the dam guy to show the cable went out a few days later. They didnt tighten the bolts on the dish and it moved. Once that was fixed I really haven't had a problem other than having to reset my box every now and then.

Maybe there is period that you can get a full refund if your not happy. I don't knwo for sure. What you should do is complain until you get some credits. I $350 in credit before I said I will keep. I told them at one point I was going to throw the dish off the roof and they can come pick it up off the ground and cancel me as a customer, got $100 credit for that.

  4. call your bank to tell them to note in your account that any charges made by direct tv is not authorized. CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT ASAP because they will charge you the cancellation fee and for all the equipment until you return the equipment. call direct tv IMMEDIATELY ask to speak with a manager. DO NOT speak with a customer service rep because they like to stall. once you speak with the manager, get his/her name and employee number BEFORE you explain to them why you are not satisfied. cancel all the packages so you can lessen the amount of charges they'll put on your card.

direct tv is known for charging things to peoples account. my husband just ordered their service and i'm hesitant about it because of their reputation.

    good luck.

let me know how things go when you choose me or someone else for best answer.
