Need help changing my internet to a secure connection?

i have a compaq laptop and a linksys router V6.. right now it says my router connection is named linksys and is an unsecured network.. how to i create a password and a new name to make it secure from other computers

You need to log into the routers web interface using an address slike 192.168.0.1 and set it up from there.

enter 192.168.1.1 into your browser address bar and press enter, the default password is 'admin' if you have not yet set one up, leave the user name blank

Click-on the Wireless tab and then click on Wireless Security

enter the followings

Security Mode----------WPA2 Personal

WPA Alogorithms-----AES

WPA Shared Key------enter a 10 digit number and note it well

finally Save Settings

you have to lock it with a special number and that just prevents any one from stealing your internet
