Hey, I'm new to yahoo and would love some feedback on what type of car to purchase. Can't decide between 2door or 4door. I want something sporty but good on gas. My choices are between a 2 door 83' cutlass with a 350 motor (14,000 miles) or something like a 4 door 98' grand marquis. The cutlass has the power and speed, but dont know about the gas mileage. The grand marquis has the luxury of back seat space and all. Please help!! I have no wife and no kids so i'm sure someone will say go with the cutlass but i want comfort and the look. Want to make this decision within a week. Thanks!!

  1. Neither one is going to be good on gas mileage, but the Marquis is a lot newer, whereas the Cutlass has very low mileage for it's year.

Frankly if you want sporty and good on gas why not look at the smaller Mustangs or Camaros, or even a Miata or MR5

  2. both of them are v8s and both are heavy cars. if your looking for gas mileage keep looking cause there both gonna suck. i would go with the grand marquis since its gonna be 100% more reliable and parts are gonna be more availible and prob cheaper

  3. Both suck when it comes to fuel economy, but I'd rather have the Cutlass. I always preferred 2-doors...

  4. Olds Cutlass. Oldsmobile made very good, dependable, long-lasting cars (though most people on here will tell you different, with their Toyotas and Renaults and Audis and that kind of c**p). Everyone in my family has owned an Olds. My sister's '79 wagon had 250,000 miles on it and still ran great.

  5. The Grand Marquis rates at 17c/25h for gas mileage.

The Cutty may rate at half that MPG and has less power if it is the stock engine.  80s model vehicles were jokes in terms of power.

This is an easy call, the Grand Marquis.
