I can't decide ....I've been looking at the Lexus rx 350, and the new Toyota Camry. I'm having a problem deciding as I know the Lexus is nice but the Camry seems to have more space in the backseat. I need the vehicle to be comfortable for 2 kids and a carseat. Which will do better for a family of 4 plus carseat, you think? I will be replacing my nice new minivan that I do not want anymore since we have a new truck.

  1. Look for a car that is comfortable and doesnt eat up gas look on Carfax or Vehix.com for cars and get some idea of what you're looking for.

  2. Find out which one your family will fit in best...try this test:

have everyone get in WITH the carseat in...now if anyone complains about "he's touching me!" or "she's touching me!" it is the wrong car!!! Sure the Lexus is a fine machine, as is the Camry, but ultimately, what matters is how much whining, discomfort, and unhappiness will the smaller backseat cause? Likewise, the seats in the Lexus may be more comfortable and cause a better attitude in the fine balance between happiness and unrest in the backseat world!

Another consideratrion may be how much do YOU like the backseat? How comfortable is it for you? Would you want your friends and adult family members to be uncomfortable back there if the need for them to ride with you arose?

Have you thought about resale? It's usually not a consideration when buying because we are so into the car we're buying. Then life changes, as yours is, and you decide to sell or trade. Which one will bring you the most $$?

  3. The Lexus. Personally if you were my girl i would just have to put you up in a Lexus or some sort. If my girlfriend ever got pregnant(hopefully not anytime soon) I always joked with her that id buy her a pimped out new van with navigation and screens in the head rest. Lol. After I said thisbshe would make one of those poutty faces and whimper a "but i don't wanna drive a mini-van." HAHA! It was so funny!  My excuse was their safe and big. Haha, knowing i would never do that to her, i only like to torture her, id surprise her with a similar car your thinking of buying, like the Lexus RX350. Its still roomy but practical and better on gas than most trucks. Since the RX350 is essentially still a Toyota it's gonna have the reliability you expect from this brand, but also the safety of a SUV which is very important when your lugging around the little ones. Last, don't forget all the comforts you pay for when you buy a Lexus but you will also pay for just having that badge on the front as well. Good luck on your search and again, buy the LEXUS!

  4. The Lexus. The Camry has major transmission issues, a sloppy brake pedal, a rubbery transmission, and just a squishy ride in general. Even though the RX is already 4 Years old, it still sets a standard for Luxury, Build Quality, Reliability, and attractiveness for it's class.

For around the same price as the RX, you could look at the new Acura MDX. The Acura MDX has receives 5 Star Safety Ratings in every test, has standard AWD, and more space than the RX. Here is the MDX website:

I almost bought one when it came out in early 2007, but since I didn't need the extra space, I ended up purchasing the BMW X3. To be perfectly honest, I would view it a mistake. It cost too much money for what it is, and it has a horribly bumpy ride. But, if you like a sports car handling in an SUV, it is the way to go.

Here are some other cars to look at:

    1) Buick Enclave (Don't turn away because it's a Buick)

    2) GMC Acadia

    3) Acura RDX

    4) Infiniti EX

    5) BMW X3

    Good Luck on Your Search
