I'm buying a laptop from circuit city and my max budget is $700. I've narrowed it down to two choices (these are the best they had in the price range):

Gateway 15.4":

• Intel Core 2 Duo T5750

• 320GB hard drive

• Built-in wireless 802.11abgn

• 4GB of DDR2 memory

• Burns DVDs and CDs

• Built-in webcam

Toshiba 14.1":

• AMD Turion 64 X2 RM-70

• 4GB DDR2 memory

• 250GB hard drive

• Burns DVDs and CDs

• Built-in 802.11bgn wireless

• Built-in webcam and mic

  1. I don't have experience with Gateway, so I can't really say anything about it, but I've had a Toshiba laptop for two years and I haven't had any problems with it.  Still pretty much runs as well now as it did when I first got it.

  2. I would definately recommend Toshiba over Gateway.

I would, however, suggest that you get a Toshiba that has an Intel processor, as they tend to operate better & faster than AMD processors.

I would highly recommend the Toshiba Fusion Satellite A305-S6829 at:

  3. never buy gateway at any cost, but anyway toshiba is a great company, a little more high priced but they dont come with that extra c**p that slows the computer down installed so totally go for the toshiba

  4. Toshiba is generally better.

Comments on Intel Processor by H B  are good too.

Intel seems to give greater radio range.

  5. toshiba

  6. to tell you the truth their exactly the same but the gateways has 70gb more of hard drive and the screen is bigger....If i was you I would get the gateway, the gateway processor is about 19% more effective
