Hi. I am 20 yrs old. Indian, and am hoping to be able to make a romantic indian dinner for my boyfriend this saturday, after not having seen him for a week. The problem is we did not think of this before today, it's spring break and I'm stuck in my dorm with limited means of going to stores, I cannot cook anything he has already eaten, and I have limited cooking skills :(

Therefore, I cannot make chicken curry, or chole masala or samosas. Or anything which requires ingredients I cannot get from the nearest teeny grocery store.

I need help! I reaaaally like this guy and want to make this dinner special. So far I'm thinking lamb curry (it's cheating, since the recipe is almost exactly what I used for chicken curry, but I have the lamb with me), maybe lentils (again I have them) and spicy rice. If I can somehow find a ride to the store, maybe I can make raita too. But I don't have any recipes or a clue! Please help!

  1. Ok you have two ways to do this lamb thing either as a stew or like a dry meat dish called mutton chukka in south india.

Here is the recipe for the meat stew, goes well with Indian rotties or any bread u can buy from store.

Hope it helps, also check the other menus in the website, you may find something you could cook without much fuss or skill. Good luck. Do let me know how you liked it.

  2. Here is a website with some really simple dishes and with simple ingredients:

Check out their Spinach and Carrot Pulao...awesome and my fav! G'Luck

  3. Lamb, lentils & rice sounds great.

A few options would be taking a bus, cab or delivery.  Except for taking a bus, the other options would be expensive.  A salad or vegetable dish would be nice, but I am sure your BF will understand & appreciate your efforts!
