Ok, so i need help drawing a rat - not the easiest animal to draw!

How would i emphasis its eyes, and make its fur look real. Is there any tips or techniques you have ?!

Or anything else i could do to make the animal stand out ?

Thanks :D

  1. Draw whats there not what you think is there. We cant tell you how to interpret the rat so you have to replicate how you see it not weather is good or bad drawing.

  2. sketch its shape a few times to get the point of view right, then draw the blooming thing rub it out and cross hatch in some tufts of hair srcibble some oneliners in and some tyre treads and hand it in as a rat killed by a bicycle tyre!

  3. guessing ur jus using pencil for this. just make sure all your shadings in the right place. instead of drawing one off the top of your head make sure u have a picture or 3 for referance. might not get it on your first go but take bits that you like off a few attempts then put them together.

start off with basic shapes like ovals and curicles ect and then slowly build it up to more detail.

its harder to advise without being able to show but good luck

  4. use a bunch of little lines for the fur and then shade over it.  that's all i got...

  5. i got nothing on the fur but if you look at this picture it shows a VERY detailed eye but it's one on the very top

but a rat eye will be a little thinner

  7. Their eyes really stand out from their face, the fur is so soft and smooth, the tail is soo long smooth and sleek. I love rats.

  8. Oh fun! Realist approach - Draw rat facing you with head down. Small Circle, medium square, larger oval  lined up front to back, with outstretched curved tail, ears are small and laid back. Using pencil lightly shade to shape him and use a Kneaded eraser to "pick-up highlights of fur from top of head. After you place dots for eyes go back and draw round sphere with a highlight spot for each eye, use a soft drawing pencil for this to get the proper "beadiness" to them Add lightly drawn whiskers. Voila'
