Question:

Need help figuring out a fun car to pick?

Mind you, this is for next year and new developments may arise (any extrapolated information is welcome).

Right now I am looking at the following:

'04-05 BMW M3 (terrible gas mileage though)

'09 Scion tC (hopefully '10 will have RWD, FWD is a little iffy)

'09 Honda Civic (FWD only from what I understand)

Basically, I am looking for suggestions and recommendations. My primary concerns are reliability, performance (acceleration being the primary factor) and handling (tight turns, as little body roll as possible, small enough to squeeze through down-town and surrounding areas).

Money is a concern as well and I wouldn't want to go much higher than, say $25K. It also >has< to be a manual.

Also I am a tad confused on the numbers between Civics and tCs as they seem very much alike in a lot of respects.

I welcome any other suggestions besides the 3 listed above with a short summary explaining why that should be my pick.

  1. It will all depend on how much you rae prepared to pay for the car. I would suggest you to try our something unconventional.

Suzuki Swift Sport would be a good idea. It is not going to cost arm and leg and it will provide you enough power to roam around city with swiftly.

  2. Buy a Honda Civic. But you have to buy the SI, it has a little extra horsepower and more fun to drive. If gas wasn't so high I'd go for the M3. But I think your best bet is a civic SI!!!!

  3. They will not switch FWD to RWD.

The last time a company did that to a car was in the 1970's.

RWD is worse on gas because it is heavier.

The BMW M3 has more than twice the power of the Scion tC and the Honda Civic and it is also one of the best handling cars in the world so it is much more fun to drive. But it is not reliable, expenisve to maintain, requires premium gas, and it is bad on gas.

The Honda Civic is best on gas, most reliable, most practical, smartest buy.

  4. Like you said, civic and tC aren't as good as M3 in respective to performance and reliabitlity. But when it comes to cost and the "little body" issue, I'd go for tc or civic.

My recommendation is a BMW 1 Series. It's good performance, 310hp (just like a 335i) and its also small. :D
