Need help finding out how to set up file association.?

can't open e-mail, being told there is no file association attached. comp says look in folder options. looked and can't find.

Open up any folder on your computer, and at the top there should be a menu with several options.  Click on Tools -> Folder Options... -> Click the "File Types" tab at the top -> Find the file association you want to change and click "Change", then choose the program you want the particular file type to open with.

You should not be having problems with e-mail due to a file association.  If you're having problems with an e-mail attachment, save it to your computer and try changing the dot extension depending on what type of file it probably is (for example, if it should be a picture, change the extension to ".jpg", video file ".avi", audio ".wav", text file ".txt", or just try opening it with different programs).
