My son is 16 years old and has been racing through the trail for the last 5 years. He just started last year racing motocross.

He is really fast but needs to pratice on his jumps, This year he would like to go all out a pratice every day and try to qualify for the Lorretta Lyn's. We can build a track but need help with money for the bike parts. We had a few pro's in our area that saw him ride and told us he is fast just work on the jumps thats when we decided to go for it.

  1. You can go to www.sponsorhouse.com and sign up, But they are probably going to tell you that he needs to(at Least) finish in the the top five for even being consider for sponsorship and the sponsorship that he will get will only be for discounts(30% off) on parts. The best advice i can give you about sponsorship for MX Racing is make a "Bio Video"(stats and riding and racing) and don't turn down any sponsorship even if it is Toys R' Us. He has a long hard road ahead, lot's of practice, loses and win's.... It will all be worth it. I'm retired from MX racing about 9 years ago, I raced for 13 years and i had a few sponsors, Now i do FMX and Supermoto and i'm starting to get more sponsors every month.

The main thing i'm trying to say is..... Sponsors don't really care about trail riding all they care about is "Racing", Racers have a saying "You have to pay your dues" this means you have to start at the bottom(we all have) and practice, practice, practice gain skills so he can be better than the other guy.....Placing in the top three will get him noticed. But, always be supportive even if he does not place always show him that your proud of him because he will always want to do better.

    Good Luck

  2. go to sponsorhouse.com... like barry m said he will prolly need to be placing in top 5 to even be looked at... a few of my frens are on there and we are working on getting my resume together and stuff to put on there!!! good luck!!!

  3. Contact Dwayne Gualding in Colonial Heights Virginia.

  4. You need to put together a resume of your sons achievements and goals and then go to the places locally that you can and put it in.  Then post it to other places in the industry.  You could also try to get help from a local manufacturer or business stating that you will advertise their business on the bike and on the vehicle that you take to the track, on the pit tent and of course the entries although I don't know what restrictions there are where you are as where I am the entrant does need an entrant licence.

He will really need to work on his jumps for motocross as he will lose a lot against the riders who have been doing motox for years so perhaps see about getting him trained by someone.

  5. Your only real hope at this stage is a local bike shop. I had 2 state championships under my belt before anyone even started paying attention to me. Even then the sponsorships were mainly free riding gear and parts with a few bonus checks here and there. If you make it to Loretta's this year get there early and camp in a shady spot. I almost died from the heat this past year. August in TN is really hot!!

  6. Most of it needs to come from you guys now.

Casey Stoner's [ 2007  MotoGP World Champ]  mum and dad sold there house and everything they owned to move from Aus to the UK, just to give Casey the best.

You talk about a track? If you really want it, you will figure it out.
