Question:

Need help fixing my couch?

So someone big sat on the couch hard and broke some of the support boards and now it sags. Does anyone know what kind of wood couches use? It looks pretty rough but is it some kind of sturdy weight bearing wood or can I just go down to Home Depot and get something that will work? And any other 'couch-repairing' tips if there is such a thing

  1. I  would go to Home Depot and ask them for a wood that is sturdy - like pine or oak and they will probably cut the slats to your measurements.  Be sure to take accurate measure of the space to be repaired.

    Good luck.

  2. cheap furniture uses pine,  medium to good quality use oak alot.   its rough because its not run thru planers or sanded .   there is no need to the fact no one is going to touch it or see it.   If its a couch I would use oak.  match the size as close as you can get it.  I would go to a local lumber yard, rather than a home depot.  ask for 4/4 planed one side.   its cheaper than the stuff you get at home depot..  its just not machined down for finishing.
