I am writing a research paper on Witchcraft. That is the only guidelines on my topic I'm given, but I have to formulate a thesis around that topic.

You need to figure out what part of witchcraft you want to write about.

One interesting idea is how the church (both Catholic and Protestant) used accusations of witchcraft against women in an effort to maintain control over them. Remember, the church did not want powerful women!

Other ideas:

"Witches as healers" -- many who were accused were simply "wise women" who knew how to use herbs or other basic medicines.
