  1. its dia duit. I am reluctantly forced to sit through 4 40minute classes or Irish every week.

  2. Mmmmmmm ... Dia duit!

  3. I'd always thought it was "Dia dhuit" too, since that's how I'd pronounce it.  But it is actually "Dia duit".

  4. Both are acceptable in normal everyday use.

"Dia duit" is what's used in Ulster dialect but it's also regarded as the "narrow standard" (the register used in government and legal documents) because it's strictly grammatically correct.

"Dia dhuit" is what's used in common speech in Connacht and Munster and speakers from these dialects would find "Dia duiit" an odd way of saying it, a bit like the way a learner speaks, although grammatically there's no reason for putting the "h" in "dhuit" here. It's not regarded as incorrect for everyday use in the "broad standard" in books, newspapers etc.

  5. Munster  Dia dhuit( jee-ah gwit )

Ulster  Dia duit (jee-ah ditch )

Connacht  Dia dhuit( jee-ah gwit )

    that's what I've been taught,hope this helps

  6. Dia duit.

Pronounciation (and spelling, maybe) depends on the part of Ireland you are from.

"djiah gwich" would be how it would be pronounced by a speaker from the North

  7. Dia duit!

    dia is muire duit.

conas ata`` tu? how are you?
