My 6 year old daughter takes Clonidine to help her sleep. She was recently digonsed with ADHD and is on Adderall aslo. went put her to bed at 10:00 every night and she is up till at least 3am. We watch what we give her and how much sugar she has. We have tried every thing and its getting harder to get her to sleep any help would be great. Thanks so much.

  1. Have you watched what she is exposed to such as television and the amount of time she spends veiwing it?

  2. My nephew has ADD and was on Adderall, it's horrible (he also was sleepless and never hungry).  My sis switched him to Focalin and it's amazing --- he's focused and disciplined but still animated & interactive in class.  Best of all, he EATS and SLEEPS.  Talk to your pediatrician or better, her child psychiatrist.  She may need a lower dose or try a different med, does she like the patches?

  3. talk to the pediatrician as she is a special needs child.

  4. My 8 yo boy isn't on any meds, so I don't know the effect those will have, but he has always had trouble sleeping. A set routine does help slightly, like dinner, books, bed and a snuggle/soft toy. The best thing that has worked for him, though, is soft 'new age' type music that he plays on his CD player. That seems to really help. We used to use that Music for Dreaming CD, but we wore it out! Look for children's or adult's music that's designed for relaxation or helping sleep - it might help. I think for my son, it just lets his brain relax and turn off. Good luck!
