Soooo... I have some of three Oscars but me and my husband are moving from maryland to california, and i'm almost positive they will not make the trip. So I don't know what to do... I don't know if theres like a humane society for fish. I guess i could like drop them off on the door step at petco (in a bag of water) before opening... haha no i'm kidding... but does anyone have ideas what i could do!?? Or if you're in maryland... want some fish??

  1. pet store takes them so dose ebay 300 $ anyone yea i got 700$ for 2 oscars on ebay

  2. What part of Maryland do you live in? I live in Severn, right by Baltimore.

  3. you could always call a local pet store not a chain pet store.  They will more than likely take the fish in.  Or post something about them in either a newspaper (usually for free if your not selling the item), or on myspace if you have an account.  Someone will want to take your fish in.

  4. You could try a couple of things. You can post them on Craigslist, often papers offer free online ads, you could try that too. Otherwise I would try calling aquatics stores in your area, you're likely to find one that will take them off your hands.

You could also consider trying to find a classroom/nursing home/etc to donate them too if you're willing to part with the whole set up.

  5. In response to "ME"

You should be ashamed of the last statement you just made!!! Her fish are alive not dead.

Also, if a fish is dead, put it in a potted plant or flower garden or plant it with a tree.

Don't just flush it. Such a waste of a natural resourse.

You can enjoy the fish long after it is gone by looking at the pretty flowers it will produce.

Also Oscars get BIG. Explain to the plumber how the toilet got plugged up again?

  6. most pet stores will take them if they have room. they do not buy them. i traveled with two large oscars by putting them into a large cooler and running a battery powered air pump. made a three day trip in cold weather. thought i lost one of them when we got unloaded. it was laying flat on the bottom of the cooler totally still. got the tank set up and went to get the other and found out that the both were fine, just got too cold and it was shutting down like fish do.

  7. GIVE THEM TO A FRIEND OR SELL THEM ON EBAY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT YOOH CAN PUT IT ON THE PAPER OR CRAIGHS LIST I REALLY DONT KNOW IF ONE OF THE PET STORES WOULD TAKE IT BUT YOU COULS TRY!!

  8. Wal-Mart will take them... or any store that sells fish.

  9. last time i went to petco they had 2 tanks with fish in it that said they were up for adoption, so check with petco, post on craigslist.com, go to local family owned petstores and ask your friends

  10. Petco takes them.

good luck on that long drive. I live in Calif and its been Hot!

  11. How about calling a pet store and telling them your problem..I'm sure they would take them off your hands....they might be able to sell them or give them away to someone who would enjoy them. One more idea many restaurants or doctor's offices have fish in aquariums you could ask them if they would like them.

Best wishes and have a safe trip out west...

  12. Go to a fish petshop thing and give them your fish. Don't ask for money because they might not take it.
