I just bought a 32" Vizio tv. I have a Dish Network Satellite box and a Yamaha RX-V361 receiver. I need to hook all of this stuff together so that my surround sound will work.

My satellite box does not have a place for the Y/Pr/Pb connections, just the standard AV connections. It does have a connection for the optical cable.

My TV and receiver have all of the connections. Please help! I am so lost.....

  1. This will work best based on your present equipment:

Optical and yellow (video) cable out of the satellite box, into the receiver.

Optical and yellow (video) cable from the receiver to the TV.

When you can see your way to do it, get an HD satellite receiver. When you do, replace the yellow (video) cables with the Yprpb (component video) cables. Your picture will improve and the HD channels will look amazing!

  2. There are probably a lot of ways to do it.

I would use the optical out of the cable box into the TV and then use the TV outs into a set of inputs of the receiver...
