Need help!! how can i stop a proposed grave mine .thats trying to open by my home??

its a gavel mine that wants to strip a 2 mile pice of land.. its close to a lake. and about 200 privot land.. and it will devastate all the wild life around its for 12 years and will have trucks operation 24-7? do you have any sugestions on what to do?

get in contact with as many conservation societies that you can find.

Save your money and buy it, if you own it you should be able to then do with it as you please until someone offers you more for it and you accept. Then it would be theirs to do as they please.

You might be able to force an environmental impact statement or at least a survey. If threatened or endangered species are represented nearby, the mine may not degrade their habitat. I should warn you that the odds are against you in this. If there is enough money available, you can hire your own ecologist and lawyer and fight the mine in court. I suspect that you and your neighbors are more worried about noise, dust, and the lessening of property values than about wildlife. Just in case you aren't, you might be able to get the operators to restore the habitat after the mine closes. A nice stocked pond deeded to the municipality might go a long way to improving habitat (and property values, as well).
