Bronze-colored coin, about the size of a half-dollar, has a bust of Washington on the front, facing right. It says "Twenty-fifth Anniversary" across the top, and on the back all I can make out is "Purchase" at the bottom. It's not in any coin books I can find.

  1. Sounds like possibly a token of some sort or commemorative coin as you mentioned. Posting a pic would help us identify it..kind of hard to say without seeing it.

  2. It is a medal or token but more info is needed. Washington was used on a lot of medals and tokens which have nothing to do with him really, except he is known by all Americans. I would need to have good quality photo's or scans to help further. Try a coin dealer but they usually don't know tokens and medals very well, if at all. Maybe a coin club is in your area and they can help.
