I need help to figure out what this switch box is used for. It is from a 1980 BMW 320i E21 3series. It has Cutler-Hammer numbers listed on it are: 005621, 7010509011, and Bul No. 9537N13. Says Cut-in, Cut-out, and Colder on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. that part is the thermostat that tells the A/C compressor to turn on and off as needed.  Some say its also a fan resister.  I never found that to be true.

  2. sounds like an adjustable thermostatic switch for the AC.

  3. Post a picture (you can use imageshack.us for hosting), that'll make it easier to identify.  I'm not aware of any stock parts made by Cutler Hammer, so it may be aftermarket.  But again - a picture will make all the difference.

  4. www.realoem.com   enter your chassis number and search for the part
