A reasearcher hypothesized that talking to plants enhances their growth. To test her hypothesis, she gave 24 plants the same amount of food, water, and sunlight. She talked to 12 of the plants daily for 6 six weeks.

HELP! This is confusing!

    What do you think the plants where were cared by talking to it grew faster?


  2. The independant variables would be: food, water, sunlight.

    Dependant variable: whether or not the plants were being talked to.

  3. I really don't understand your question.  But the experiment is understandable.

    To test if talking to plants enhances their growth:

    Get 24 identical plants and provide identical food, water and light to all of them.  Weigh them and record their weight.

    But add one thing extra to half of them - talking.   So all 24 get the same food, light and water.  12 of them get talked to, 12 of them don't.

    At the end of the 6 weeks measure the growth of the plants by weighing them again.  Calculate the gain of the talked to plants and compare that to the gain of the un-talked-to plants.

    If the hypothesis is correct, the 12 plants that were talked to will be, on average, larger that then 12 that weren't.
