Need help in lawn mower maintenance.?

Question

I tipped my lawn mower to the front to check underneath. Now it is spitting out smoke and the engine will sputter then shut off. I know I need to replace the spark plug and air filter but is there anything else I need to do?

Just remember to tilt the mower towards the oil sump next time.We've all done it.

dont need to do anything,, just leave it for a few hours to dry out

You just got oil into the combustion chamber and it will take some running to dissipate this.  I wouldn't think you would have to replace anything.  You might want to remove the plug and clean off any excessive oil on it and crank the engine a few times with the plug removed to help clean things out.  If the air filter got oil on it you would probably have to replace it.
