  1. The 1st thing I reccommend is...get ready to walk...and I mean WALK...it's the best way to know Rome. So prepare yourself by walking about 45 min a day before your trip.

    Now...here are the reccomendations:

    Day 1. The Vatican

Day 2. The Coliseum, the Forum and a couple of churches

Day 3. A museum (your choice) and a good lunch..Afternoon..The Pantheon and the Piaza Navona

Day 4. Walk...Go shopping and relax in a plaza, a good dinner..after that go the Fontana di Trevi, specially if you are with someone you love. Throw your coin in...so you'll be back some day.

Day 5. Wake up before dawn...Walk to a high point...The Monument of Victor Manuel...and see sun come out. A good breakfast, another museum..Walk some more and take a lot of pictures...

Finally I would recommend you to stay at the YMCA...is safe...and cheap and breakfast is included. But I would have to say it's not a romantic place to stay in...is quite basic.

Also get the "Lonely Planet" Italy guide...it has good tips and maps...

    Enjoy

  2. I would suggest you go to www.love4adventure.com to see what they offer. They are a great group that would help you to see the maximum places in a most efficient manner. jason is a great guide and you will come away knowing you saw Rome in the best way possible, I would plan on taking one of his tours right away and then you can choose to go see something else on another day or return to something you want to revisit. It is well worth it to take one of their tours while in Rome.

  3. Hi

Rome has such a massive range of attractions that you really need to think about what you actually want to see and then put your schedule together.

Whether it's the ancient monuments, the gardens, the shopping areas or even areas outside the city such as Ostia Antica you need to plan accordingly.  I have put a couple of links in the sources that might help you.

    Take care

  4. lets see, I'd go to see the pope ride around in the carriage and get in line for the vatican and sistine chapel. I think it's at 9 but double check that. Maybe go up to Genicolo nearby.

Castel d'Sant Angelo is a cool place to go and it's right by the vatican.

Visit some churches like Maria Maggiore, i think it's called that. See the Pantheon near the colessum too.

Take a walk into the Jewish ghetto. This is not as famous as other places, but well worth seeing in my opinion. There are less tourists there.

I'd spend a day wating in line at the colessuem and seeing random ruins throughout the city. If you like to shope, go down via del corso. Also make it over to the trevi nearby and spanish steps. the fountain is beautiful in the day and at night.

I'd take a day to go to villa borghese. walk around the city from there.

Rome is a great city to roam around. I wouldn't worry about getting lost. It's easy to wind your way out or ask for directions. The city is chaotic. So try to hit those places without rushing and enjoy the awesome architecture.
