  1. The only way to diagnose your ferret is to get it to a vet..not going to diagnose your ferret here.  If you are concerned be a responsible owner and get your pet the medical care it needs.

  2. Your Ferret is nocturnal.....Well maybe...Anyway you should bring she/he to the vet.....By the way she/he is not a it....Just saying.

If a ferret gets sick, it can go downhill very quickly so it is vital for you to be aware of any changes to your ferret’s health.

If you notice your ferret showing any of the following warning signs, get it your vet immediately!

    Disinterest in playing

    Loss of appetite

    Tiredness

    Vomiting

    Pain

    Difficulty in breathing

    A wound or any bleeding

    Pawing at mouth

    Drooling

Weight loss (not due to seasonal changes)

Fur loss (not due to seasonal changes)

    Grinding of teeth

Dazed and / or staring look

Anything resembling a seizure or convulsion

    Excessive itching

    Straining to piddle

Excessive drinking and / or piddling

Change in color or texture of p**p (if diet is the same)

No p**p or piddle seen in litter box or around the house during the day

Also make sure you can give your vet as much information as possible about how different your ferret is acting or feeling, and the condition it’s in, to help with diagnosing the problem.

  3. Yes, you should take your ferret to the vet as soon as possible, just to be safe. But, unless this is a new behavior for that ferret, it may be completely normal. I currently have 4 ferrets, but have had up to 13 at one time. As ferrets age, they sleep more. I have one ferret, Gingersnap, that sleeps almost all the time. She is old and a bit sickly (bald - but too old for any operation to fix things). As long as I see her eating, drinking and pooping, I just let her sleep. She is just an old ferret. Now, if my ferret, Trouble, started acting like that, I would have to take him in to the vet as he is a very active, playful, mischievous young ferret.

  4. It may have a disease, no way for me to tell.  If it is eating and drinking like you say then it is not sleeping all day.  Ferrets eat and p**p about every four hours so it must be waking up to eat and drink if it is OK.  Please take it to the vet so you can get a professional diagnosis.
